Did you know? 40% of all food in the United States goes to waste. At 12 Baskets Café, we're dedicated to lowering that number in our community.
We are rescuing 2,000+ pounds of food each week, on average, and serving 500+ community members through meals and grocery boxes. Your donation will help ensure we can continue to save delicious food from the landfill while building community, and break down stereotypes to reduce fear.

FAQ:
What type of food do you accept?
We accept already prepared food and will pick it up from your location. We can also accept unopened pantry items as well as dog and cat food.
Any requirements?
Food must be prepared in a Health Department-inspected facility and all donations must adhere to ServSafe guidelines for time and temperature. We also ask that you label the food with the date prepared and your organization.
How do I get the food to 12 Baskets Cafe?
We will pick it up! All you need to do is email CONTACT@ASHEVILLEPOVERTYINITIATIVE.ORG and let us know what you have. You can also call/text 828-772-7115 for a quicker response.
What if I am a farm and have extra produce?
If you are a small farm and want to give back we will happily take your produce!
should I be worried about liability?
No. There are federal laws to protect organizations from liability when they donate food they believe to be safe. “Federal law and North Carolina state law provide ample liability protection for food donors and the non-profits and charitable distributors to which they donate, so long as they do not act with gross negligence, intentional misconduct, or recklessness.”
